Healthy Lifestyle and Weight Loss Tips

Summer is on the horizon (and, fingers crossed, so is the end of lockdown) and you might be thinking about implementing some summer weight loss diet goals so you can be feeling your best once we’re finally allowed to get out and enjoy the summer weather. Fear not here at Bozu, we’ve offered up some realistic weight loss tips and some other things you can keep in mind when it comes to healthy weight loss and achieving greater success.

Spice Up Your Life

Don’t be afraid to add a little spice to your cooking; it’s a great way of preventing weight gain. Spicy peppers and chilis contain an ingredient called capsaicin, which is linked to weight loss. Cook a nice spicy curry, make some spicy guacamole with a few chili flakes, grill some lean protein along with some spicy bell peppers, or order one of our delicious spicy dishes instead!

Choose Fish Over Red Meat

Red meat isn’t a bad source of protein at all, however, fatty fishes are incredibly healthy and satisfying, keeping you full for hours. Seafood is one of the best foods to eat because it is loaded with high-quality protein, healthy fats and lots of amazing nutrients. We’ve got lots of delicious fish dishes like tuna pasta, salmon noodles or cod tamarind curry.

Drink Coffee

Caffeine speeds up your metabolism, which can help prevent weight gain and putting on those extra calories. Drinking coffee does come with a disclaimer though
don’t throw a load of caramel and whipped cream in it! When you get those physical hunger cues, coffee (and green tea as a matter of fact) is a great way to quell them.

Don’t Drink Your Calories

When it comes to the best diet plans and weight management it’s important to remember that a lot of sugary drinks are filled with calories. It’s all well and good avoiding those sinful snacks that are sitting in the fridge but just make sure you’re not substituting them for drinks that are calorific.

Keep Those Tempting Foods On The Supermarket Shelves

Limit the free access you have to bad foods by simply not buying them on your visit to the supermarket. It’s the easiest way to avoid those extra pounds if they’re not on your shelves. Plus not buying those treats comes with the added benefit of saving a few quid!

Healthy Foods To Look Out For

Whole Eggs

Both high in protein and fat eating whole eggs as part of a balanced diet is a great tool in your weight management battle. They’re one of the best foods because they’re packed with nutrients and a great alternative to refined carbs like bagels and bread.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussel sprouts all come under the category of cruciferous vegetables and are some of our favourite foods here at Bozu. They are all low in calories and high in fibre and nutrients meaning they give you all the satisfaction and the ‘full-feeling’ while not adding on extra weight.

Soups

Studies show that soups tend to leave people feeling more satisfied and full after a meal. These low energy density foods often make people eat fewer calories. An important thing to keep in mind is to make sure you don’t add things like cream and coconut milk as this can dramatically increase the calorie count.

Nuts

A great balance of protein, fibre and healthy fats, nuts are ideal healthy snacks. They improve metabolic health and even promote weight loss, just be sure to eat them, like everything, in moderation.

Salmon

Like we mentioned earlier, fish is an excellent source of protein. In particular, salmon is loaded with high-quality protein, healthy fats and dozens of vital nutrients. Other fish like mackerel, trout and sardines are great alternatives.
